Fort Myers, Fla.—The FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man charged in a violent Florida jewelry store robbery.
Alberto Perez-Elias is one of four men charged with breaking into Tio Jewelers in Cape Coral, Florida, on Jan. 6.
Perez-Elias and another man entered the jewelry store by breaking through the wall of a vacant business next door.
The two men held the manager at gunpoint and gained access to the safe, taking off with jewelry worth more than $1 million, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
All four of the men fled to Miami after the robbery, said officials, and three were later arrested.
Perez-Elias remains at large and has been placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted List.
He is in his mid-50s and is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was born in Cuba and has ties to Hialeah and Miami, Florida.
He faces federal charges of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, interference with commerce by robbery, and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
If convicted, Perez-Elias could serve up to 20 years in federal prison, as well as a seven-year consecutive sentence for the gun charge.
The FBI said Perez-Elias is believed to be armed and dangerous.
