TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — For years, Maurice Smith helped protect Florida State’s offensive line. Now, he is protecting Tallahassee in a different uniform.

Smith finished his Seminole career with 52 career starts, the second-most in Florida State history. He became a fixture on the offensive line and earned honors for both his play and leadership.

Now, Smith has traded garnet and gold for Tallahassee Police Department blue and gold, bringing the same discipline, leadership and commitment to protecting and serving the community.

After years of protecting quarterbacks, Smith is now focused on protecting Tallahassee, continuing what those around him describe as a commitment to answering the call.
