The City of Port St. Lucie will bring the community together Friday morning to honor the victims, survivors and first responders of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, 25 years after the tragedy.
The city’s annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Memorial Fountain at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center, located at 9221 Event Center Place.

City officials say the ceremony will serve as a time for reflection while honoring the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and recognizing the strength and unity shown in the years since.
This year’s ceremony will include remarks from Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin, Port St. Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk and St. Lucie County Fire District Firefighter/Paramedic Allen Civita. Port St. Lucie Police Department Chaplain Nick Manzie will deliver an invocation.

Retired New York City Police Department detective Rafael Diaz will serve as the guest speaker. The Port St. Lucie High School Choir will also perform during the ceremony.
Members of the St. Lucie County Fire District, Port St. Lucie Police Department and St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office are expected to participate.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited inside the MIDFLORIDA Event Center for light refreshments.
