DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Florida man tried to escape his motel room after becoming the subject of an investigation. As he fled, he discarded a cell phone and marijuana, but forgot about the crack cocaine he had stashed in his pocket.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said on Thursday that detectives showed up at a hotel to serve a search warrant on an alleged drug dealer operating in Daytona Beach. The suspect, Charles Jordan, attempted to run but was quickly found by K9 Kratos and his handler.
Deputy body camera video shows deputies running after Jordan. The deputy can be heard screaming, “There’s a K9 stop. You’re going to get bitten!” The video continues to show Jordan stopping and putting his hands up before getting on the grass in surrender.
The sheriff’s office said that as Jordan tried to run, investigators discovered that he tossed marijuana and a cellphone, but failed to realize that 6.6 grams of cocaine was still in his pocket.
