KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Florida man wanted for a child sex crime was apprehended in West Virginia Thursday evening, federal investigators said.

Alexander Kyle Nichols, 37, of Bradenton is accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl and violating a court-ordered drug program, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

The release said Nichols, who was traveling under an alias, was taken into custody at a hotel in Dunbar after fleeing authorities in Florida.

Following the arrest, Nichols was arraigned by a Kanawha County Magistrate.

Nichols is now awaiting extradition back to Florida inside South Central Regional Jail.

Last month, the US Marshals Service reported a Florida murder suspect was also apprehended in Dunbar.
