ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WINK) — A woman pumping gas at a St. Petersburg gas station ended up seriously hurt after police say a stranger set her car on fire.

It happened around 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mobil Gas Station on 101 40th Ave. North, according to police.

Authorities say Eleanor Crawford, 40, walked up to the victim and used a lighter to deliberately ignite gasoline while the woman was fueling her SUV.

The vehicle went up in flames and the victim suffered second-degree burns before being taken to Tampa General Hospital.

Officers arrested Crawford just a couple of blocks away shortly after and she now faces two arson charges.

Police say the two women did not know each other and the motive remains unclear as the investigation continues.
