JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – If you need some shopping deals, you’ll want to head to Jacksonville this weekend.

The annual city-wide yard sale started this morning and will run until Sunday. Yard sale hours are set from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Houses across the city are being transformed into mini stores, selling everything from essentials like clothing to home items, appliances, and Christmas decorations.

Jacksonville resident Robin Gerard says that, like any yard sale, the preparation for this weekend’s sales took a lot of hard work.

“It took me probably five days of preparation, just putting things together, the pricing, the layout and all of that,” said Gerard.

Unlike your typical yard sale, the city-wide event does not require individuals to have a permit to sell.

The event is meant to be community-oriented, and it is up to each resident to decide whether they choose to participate.

Many residents do, and Gerard says people are eager to shop

“I was adamant about no early birds; 8 a.m. was opening, 6:30 a.m., people were waiting,” said Gerard.

Downtown shops are also getting in on the action and having special weekend sales.
