GCG Week 4: Fort Myers beat Mariner 21-13 to win third straight game
Fort Myers beat Mariner 21-13 in their Week 4 matchup as the Green Wave claimed their third win in a row.
CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
Fort Myers High defeated Mariner 21-13 in their Week 4 matchup.
In their previous matchup, the Green Wave defeated the Tritons on a walk-off 70-yard touchdown, but a lot has changed since then, including the addition of two new head coaches on the sidelines.
The Green Wave were able to forge ahead and maintain their lead thanks to a score from Kamarien McKay.
However, their quarterback Anthony Mendes was injured earlier in the game and did not return, which turned the game into a defensive battle.
Both teams traded possessions, but the Green Wave ultimately prevailed as they claimed their third straight victory.
With the win, Fort Myers improves to 3-1 on the year, and it will go for its fourth win in 2026 as it faces Gulf Coast.
Meanwhile, the Mariner Tritons will look to get back on track as they head to Island Coast on Sept. 18.
