According to witnesses, Florida Highway Patrol troopers attempted to pull over a vehicle at the corner of Southeast Indian Street and Southeast Durant Avenue in the Golden Gate neighborhood of Martin County, which is predominantly Hispanic, when the woman stopped her SUV at a home, Oct. 23, 2025. Resident Pedro Orozco described seeing a struggle between the trooper and the woman, and the woman was tased. Over a dozen troopers were on the scene within minutes, as well as U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials and a helicopter roaming overhead.
