A new report submitted to the Florida legislature says the state has hundreds of unpaid bills for its immigration enforcement, according to our partners at the Tampa Bay Times.
The DeSantis administration submitted a long-overdue report explaining how it’s been spending disaster funds.
The report, due back on July 15th but turned in on September 11th, says the Florida Department of Emergency Management has over 500 unpaid invoices worth more than $400 million.
The division also reported that should the state get hit with a major storm, it could see a worst-case scenario of having a one-and-a-half-billion dollar deficit.
Some of the unpaid bills that the Division of Emergency Management still owes include contracts for the now-closed Alligator Alcatraz facility in South Florida.
