ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WWSB) – A good Samaritan rescued three people Sunday after their 12-foot boat capsized near the Bunces Pass Bridge off Fort De Soto.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the good Samaritan brought all three people safely to shore.
The capsized vessel has since been tied off, and a safety bulletin is being broadcast on Channel 16 to alert other boaters to the hazard.
The Coast Guard’s Sector St. Petersburg is reminding boaters to stay safe and operate their vessels responsibly.
Officials also say anyone whose vessel is left on the water should contact the Sector Command Center watchstanders to make sure there is a viable salvage plan.
Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to assist the maritime community along Florida’s west coast.
