JACKSONVILLE – The sun shone early, and all for the Jaguars was good.
Trevor Lawrence threw four touchdowns, the defense allowed just one and the Jaguars’ 2026 regular-season opener was a good day – and an impressive start – all around as they started fast and finished strong in a 34-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns in front of 41,156 at EverBank Stadium.
“A true team win,” Head Coach Liam Coen called Sunday, with rookie wide receiver Josh Cameron adding, “We’re just getting started.”
Tight end Brenton Strange: “That’s what we expect. That’s our standard.”
Lawrence completed 18 of 23 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions and a passer rating of 150.6, with the Jaguars taking a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and winning their regular-season opener for a second consecutive season for the first time since 2017-2018.
“It was awesome,” Lawrence said. “Definitely a lot to build on and a good start for us.”
Lawrence, who left the game with a 34-3 lead with 8:12 remaining, threw three touchdowns to wide receivers Parker Washington, Cameron and Jakobi Meyers – and also threw one to Strange. He became the second quarterback in franchise history to throw touchdowns to four different receivers, with Blake Bortles doing it in a September 2018 victory over the New England Patriots.
“He spread the ball around and trusted the guys who were in to make plays,” Coen said.
