TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Bragging rights are staying with Tallahassee firefighters for another year after a flag football showdown against the Tallahassee Police Department drew a big community crowd.
The Tallahassee Fire Department said it beat the City of Tallahassee Police Department and will keep the trophy for another year. “Great game against City of Tallahassee Police Department and an even better crowd,” TFD said, thanking “everyone who came out, along with our sponsors, vendors, community partners, and the Rickards High School band and cheerleading team for helping make it a great day.”
Tallahassee police also thanked supporters after the rivalry game, saying, “TPD hit the field against TFD today for another flag football showdown!” Police said they did not win this year, adding, “We may not have brought home the win this year, but that just adds a little more fuel to the fire for next year.”
Both departments highlighted community support and participation from Rickards High School. TPD thanked “our sponsors, the announcer Greg Tish and the Rickards High School drum line and cheerleaders for bringing the energy,” along with residents who attended.
TFD summed up the result simply: “We’ll hang on to the trophy for another year. The rivalry continues!” TPD added, “Enjoy the win, TFD. We’ll see y’all next year.”
