The lone holdout juror whose vote led to a mistrial in Lindsay Clancy‘s murder case is now receiving a wave of financial support from people backing his controversial decision.
Tom Hennessey organized a GiveSendGo fundraiser titled “Stand With the Juror” that has raised $117,209 toward its $150,000 goal as of Monday, September 14. The money would help the juror if he faces repercussions following the closely watched trial. “If they come for him, and they will, this is to cover security, lawyers, and lost work,” the fundraiser stated.
“One juror held his seat. He looked at what she did, not the brand of Zoloft,” per the donation page. “We’re not letting this slide.”
The fundraiser comes amid increased scrutiny of the juror. NBC10 Boston reported that court documents and interviews with family members revealed a history of domestic violence accusations, an active restraining order and a pending eviction case.

According to the outlet, the juror faced a criminal charge in 2021 after his wife accused him of grabbing her by the throat and throwing her into a dresser. The charge was later dismissed. His teenage nephew obtained a restraining order last year after accusing the juror of pushing him to the ground and repeatedly punching him. The restraining order remained active while the juror was serving in Clancy’s trial, per the report.
Despite that, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came to the juror’s defense in a Friday, September 11, post on X. “A man objected to allowing a woman to kill her three young kids and get away with it, so NBC is trying to smear that juror, whose identity should be protected. Another low for legacy media,” DeSantis, 48, shared on social media. “If the juror is being harassed, Florida will provide asylum — I’m sure he’d be welcomed and appreciated.”

Clancy, 36, was charged with murdering her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, at the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. Her defense acknowledged that she killed the children but maintained she was not criminally responsible because she was experiencing postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors argued that she planned the killings and understood right from wrong.
As Globe previously reported, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4 after more than seven days of deliberations. Several jurors later said the final vote was 11-1 in favor of finding Clancy not criminally responsible, with the lone holdout favoring a murder conviction.
Clancy’s attorney has since asked the judge to throw out the mistrial and acquit her. Prosecutors have not announced whether they will retry the case, and a status hearing is scheduled for September 29.
