FLORIDA – Florida Virtual School reported increased enrollment and course completions through its flexible online learning program during the 2025-26 school year.
More than 242,000 students enrolled in FLVS Flex, which allows participants to take online classes while remaining connected to a public, private, charter or home education program.
Students completed more than 706,000 semester courses, according to Florida Virtual School.
The total represented a 10 percent increase from the previous school year.
FLVS Flex served students in all 67 Florida counties.
Enrollment is available throughout the year, allowing students to select courses and preferred start dates outside a traditional school calendar.
The program provides online instruction for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Its catalog includes more than 200 courses covering core subjects, Advanced Placement classes, world languages, driver education and career education.
Students may use FLVS Flex to advance their studies, recover credits, explore careers or take classes unavailable through local schools.
Public, private and charter school students generally use the program to supplement regular coursework.
Home education students may take multiple classes as part of a parent-directed curriculum.
FLVS Flex is not a student’s school of record and does not award diplomas.
Grades earned by students attending another school are sent to that institution.
Sam Verghese, chief executive officer and superintendent of Florida Virtual School, said the program allows families to customize learning around academic goals, career interests and schedules.
The figures were released ahead of National Online Learning Day on September 15th.
FLVS Flex enrollment remains open year-round.
Applications for the separate FLVS Full Time program are scheduled to reopen November 2nd for the second semester.
