A former Florida police officer is accused of threatening to shoot at the same police department where she used to work.
Florida City police say the 54-year-old woman made threats against the police station, city officials and officers through social media. Then, after traveling from Jacksonville to South Florida, she allegedly called the department and made another threat while speaking with a dispatcher.
Officers found her shortly afterward at a local restaurant in Florida City. Police say she resisted arrest before she was taken into custody at around 1:58 a.m. on Sept. 11.
The woman previously worked for the Florida City Police Department, but her employment there ended in 2019.
Police Say She Traveled From Jacksonville

According to the Florida City Police Department, officers first learned about the threats after they were made on social media and reported to police.
During the investigation, officers learned that the woman had traveled from Jacksonville to Miami International Airport on Sept. 10.
From there, police say she used a private transportation service to get to Florida City. Police did not say why she traveled there or what led up to the alleged threats.
She Allegedly Called the Police Department Too
After arriving in Florida City, police say the woman contacted the department herself. While speaking with a dispatcher, she allegedly made additional threats to shoot at the police station.
Officers located her shortly after at a local restaurant. Police say she resisted arrest before being taken into custody.
She Used To Work for the Department
Police identified the woman as Rocquel McCray and said she is a former law enforcement officer. Her employment with the Florida City Police Department ended in 2019.
Police said she was arrested on multiple felony charges, but did not identify the individual charges. The department said the investigation began with threats against the police station, city officials and police officers.
A GoFundMe Was Started This Summer
A GoFundMe organized in July by Rocquel “Krazy” McCray appears to belong to the former officer. The page says she spent more than 26 years working as a correctional officer and police sergeant. The fundraiser is also based in Orange Park, Florida, near Jacksonville, where police say McCray traveled from before her arrest.
The fundraiser was started on July 21 with a goal of $75,000. As of Sept. 14, it had raised $1,165 from nine donations. McCray wrote that she was dealing with financial hardship and ongoing legal expenses and was seeking help with housing, court travel, medical care and other bills. The fundraiser was created nearly two months before her arrest in Florida City.
