Amendment 3 could reduce funding for children’s services

WMNF’s Megan Fair reports that this is the conclusion of the Florida Policy Institute, which held a call with the media this month. A Hillsborough commission voted to allow construction on a former cemetery property

The commission voted 6 to 2 to approve the zoning change, saying it would help create adequate housing supply. Property owners requested that zoning be modified so they can build residences on a former portion of Woodlawn Cemetery that has no marked graves, however, there may still be bodies underneath the land.

DeSantis appointed a judge who has previously argued for fetal personhood

Judge Marlon Weiss was appointed to the 4th District Court of Appeals this month. Last year, Weiss oversaw a South Florida case last year in which he argued that if fetuses are entitled to the same rights as born individuals. Weiss’ order cited articles favoring fetal personhood, a once-fringe legal theory promoted by people who seek to use the law to restrict pregnant people’s access to certain forms of healthcare, especially abortion.

Macklemore’s Tampa appearance cancelled after pro-Palestine statements

Macklemore said Monday that he has been dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour over pro-Palestinian comments he made onstage earlier this month. Macklemore exclaimed “Free Palestine” earlier this month while introducing his protest song “Hind’s Hall.” That means he will no longer be performing at Sheeran’s planned stop at Raymond James stadium.
