KPMG has hired David Mica Jr. as a Managing Director and Client Relationship Executive in its Tallahassee office.
Mica joins the Big Four firm’s Florida government services practice after more than five years as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs at the Florida Hospital Association.
“David brings over 20 years of distinguished leadership experience across Florida’s state government, healthcare, and public affairs sectors,” the firm said in its announcement. “His proven record of leading large-scale agency transformations, managing multi-billion dollar budgets, and navigating complex regulatory environments makes him an invaluable asset to our team and our clients.”

Mica started in the Executive Office of the Governor under Charlie Crist and Rick Scott and was a Gubernatorial Fellow in 2013-14. He ran legislative affairs at the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, then moved to the Florida Lottery as Chief of Staff. Scott named him interim Secretary in 2017 while the Governor searched for a permanent replacement.
Scott appointed him CEO of Volunteer Florida in 2018, and he led the agency through the Hurricane Michael recovery. His last state post was Chief of Staff at the Department of Children and Families under Secretary Chad Poppell.
His father, David Mica, spent decades as executive director of the Florida Petroleum Council. His uncles, Republican John Mica and Democrat Dan Mica, both served Florida in Congress.
KPMG’s Tallahassee office sits on East Bloxham Street, a few blocks from the Capitol. The practice advises agencies on grants management, technology modernization, and workforce transformation, and much of its staff came out of state government. KPMG U.S. Partner Anthony Monaco leads it. Last Fall the firm hired Savannah Jefferson, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ former Director of External Affairs, as a Director and promoted five others.

The firm holds state term contracts through the Department of Management Services for management consulting, IT independent verification and validation, and financial and performance audits. Statewide, KPMG has offices in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Tallahassee. Its $450 million Lakehouse training campus in Lake Nona, the firm’s largest capital investment ever, was built to host more than 40,000 KPMG employees a year.
