PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — There is heavy police activity at a shopping center in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday morning.

CBS12 News has been on the scene on Port St. Lucie Boulevard near Southeast Morningside Boulevard, where the Boulevard Shoppes shopping center has been closed off by officers with crime scene tape.

Sergeant Mesiti, Public Information Officer with the Port St. Lucie Police Department, tells us shots were fired overnight by a nearby pub.

Sgt. Mesiti says a disturbance occurred around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, outside of Harpers Pub, located in the Morningside Shoppes plaza.

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — They dined, then dashed — leaving a bill over $140.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) is seeking a man and a woman who dined at Lilo’s Streetfood and Bar and skipped out on paying an over $140 bill on Tuesday.

Deputies believe the man isn’t new to dine-and-dash after being accused of one at Sushi Yama in Boynton Beach, leaving an unpaid bill of more than $100.

TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — A high-speed chase in Tampa ended early Saturday when a 22-year-old driver slammed into a Ybor City crowd, killing four and injuring eleven.

Around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, a Tampa Police Department (TPD) Air Service was scoping a vehicle that was speeding and driving recklessly, per police.

As they were monitoring the car, officers say it exited the interstate at Doyle Carlton Drive. Officials noted that the same vehicle was previously seen racing on Hillsborough Avenue near 22nd Street.

While monitoring the car from the sky, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and TPD officers say they located the car near Palm Ave. and Nebraska Ave., where they unsuccessfully attempted a pit maneuver.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A body was found floating in the St. Lucie River early Friday morning, less than a week after another man’s body was found floating in a creek in the same county.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said that at around 8:11 a.m., officers responded to reports of a body floating in the St. Lucie River near the boardwalk under the Twin Bridges on SE Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

Fishermen in the area spotted the body and remained on scene until officers arrived. The PSLPD Marine Unit recovered the body, described only as an adult male, according to the news release.

One resident who fishes in that area multiple times a week expressed his concern about the discovery.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (CBs12) — Florida deputies stormed a barricaded bedroom to rescue a 7-year-old boy from a knife-wielding suspect, leading to a deputy-involved shooting that ended the armed man’s life.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) released bodycam footage following a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday.

HCSO said that at around 2:04 p.m., deputies were called to a domestic violence incident involving a 27-year-old suspect named Mario Camacho.

According to deputies, the caller reported that Camacho was armed with a knife and was choking a 7-year-old boy.
