TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – One day after the surprise firing of Florida State University’s athletic director Michael Alford, speculation is swirling around what happens next.
Former FSU football player and FSU Law school grad Paul Aloice now negotiates both NFL and NIL contracts.
Aloice says the collegiate sports landscape is changing rapidly and the next athletic director needs to be able to navigate the new financial realities when it comes to guaranteed contracts and NIL compensation.
“It’s not just the coaches that are being paid at a higher clip, it’s the student athletes as well,” Aloice said. “So, it’s not only being able to understand which athletes and which coaches you need at the program but also, you need to be able to balance the budget throughout the coaching staff, the athletic department and ultimately, the players as well.”
As some fans speculate that head football coach Mike Norvell could be the next to go, Aloice said to keep in mind the demand for elite college football coaches is high and it would take another guaranteed contract with a guaranteed buyout.
