Man accused of pointing gun in Central Florida supermarket
ORLANDO, Fla. —
A man was caught on camera pointing a rifle at employees inside a supermarket in Orlando on Thursday, police said.
One shopper initially thought the man was a security guard but realized otherwise when she saw him aim the weapon at several employees in the jewelry section.
“I saw that she bent down and the lady next door left. She ran away,” the shopper said. “He was acting as if he was cocking it.”
Police identified the suspect as 44-year-old Juby Vera, who was reportedly trying to retrieve a watch he claimed was his. According to authorities, Vera left the store when no one attended to him.
An arrest report states that Vera told officers the gun was not real. However, a witness said police informed her that the firearm was real and contained two bullets.
Vera faces several charges.
