Guess who’s coming to dinner?
If Marcello Hernandez had his way, a couple of showbiz A-listers.
On Sunday night, the “Saturday Night Live” comic took the opportunity to address his idols in the audience at the 78th Primetime Emmys at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Hernandez apparently figured the best way to reach a few big-time celebs was from the podium since they might not be running into each other socially later.
“I don’t know what parties I’ve been invited to, and I don’t know what parties you have been invited to,” joked the Miami native, who was there to present the Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series award.
Hernandez showed up on the red carpet earlier with his mother, Isabel Cancela. (Fans may know the Cubana raised the funnyman in the Kendall area as a single mom, and is included in much of his material.)
Speaking of material. The first star to get a shoutout from Hernandez was arguably the biggest one — Harrison Ford.
“You are a legend, man, and a real inspiration to me, and I would like to invite you to have dinner at my house,” Hernandez told the Hollywood vet, adding, “No pressure.”
As the camera panned to Ford, he looked more perplexed than amused, and his meh response was one of the most talked about moments of the evening. On X, at least one commenter called the “Raiders of the Lost Ark” legend “cranky,” though we did see a smile emerge later.
At least Hernandez got a rise out of the next person he zeroed in on in the room: “Euphoria” beauty Zendaya, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
“Hi. You’re a beast and you’re amazing,” Hernandez told her as she laughed. “I saw you, and I wanted to play it cool, and I’ve decided I can’t do that.”
Hernandez extended an invite to dinner to not just the actress, but her “Spider-Man” costar, aka fiancé/rumored husband Tom Holland, seated behind her. Judging from their reactions, they may take the comic up on that offer.
Hernandez wasn’t done, calling out fellow 305-er Oscar Isaac, nominated for his role in Netflix’s black comedy “Beef.”
The Belen Jesuit grad noted that Isaac, whose real name is Hernandez and middle name is Isaac, “could be cousins, you never know.”
“I’ll see you at Christmas,” the “72 Hours” star cracked to the Westminster Christian alum, who nodded and giggled. “I’ll cook you whatever you want.”
