The grassroots group ‘Save the Garden’ submitted close to 11,000 petition signatures challenging the city’s decision to transfer the public street to the Church of Scientology at no cost. South Garden Ave in downtown Clearwater is crucial to city traffic according to residents.
Florida Board of Education approved an amendment banning undocumented students from enrolling in postsecondary CTE programs
The rule passed with one vote in opposition to ban citizens in the U.S. “unlawfully” from taking programs known as ‘career technical education’ classes. This is following Florida’s rukling last month to ban undocumented students from 12 public universities.
Residents call for Pinellas County Public Safety Council to push against using county resources for immigration enforcement
Findings found after a ProPublic investigation into the Pinellas County Jail show significant increases in ICE holdings. It is also reported that the jail recieved a federal waiver allowing them to hold immigrants for longer than 72 hours.
