Who owns Burger Daddy? How did it get its name?
Chef-owner Ron Kerr, who raised his children on organic and all-natural food, founded the restaurant to give other families quick, grab-and-go food that isn’t highly processed.
Kerr is a Naples native who studied at the New England Culinary Institute and lives in Hobe Sound. He previously worked at restaurants in New York City, Miami, Islamorada, Naples and Palm Beach.
Kerr opened Burger Daddy in Stuart in 2024, and the name came from two things in his life.
First, his former Bite Gastrotruck food truck also focused on burgers and shakes. Second, his young children changed his iPhone contact to “Daddy” so they could call him using Alexa devices. His iPhone suggested sharing that contact information with others, so he became known as “Daddy” to friends and family too.
His wife jokingly suggested calling the restaurant “Burger Daddy,” and the name stuck.
Owner and chef Ron Kerr previously opened other Stuart restaurants
Kerr opened South Fork Kitchen & Bar on Indian Street in Stuart in 2018, famous for its award-winning BAMF Burger ($18) with bacon-onion jam, chipotle aioli and American cheese, served with hand-cut fries. The farm-to-table kitchen also sources local, seasonal ingredients and makes food from scratch daily.
Before that, Kerr owned Bite Catering Co. & Kitchen on Dixie Highway near Witham Field in Stuart. Customers could build their own burger or choose from blackboard specials, which included the BAMF.
His BAMG burger was named among the Top 100 Burgers in the Country by Eater, a food news and dining guides website, and Kerr won the Arts Council of Martin County’s 2016 Chopped! competition.
