Publix theft suspect arrested after high-speed chase from Martin County into Palm Beach County
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. —
An accused thief is facing charges after deputies say he led law enforcement on a pursuit that stretched from Martin County into Palm Beach County.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Derwyn Edwards stole several bottles of liquor from a Publix before deputies attempted to stop him.
Investigators said Edwards refused to pull over when a deputy caught up with his vehicle. Authorities say video from the pursuit shows him speeding, running red lights and coming dangerously close to other drivers on the road.
Deputies said sheriff’s office air crews tracked Edwards as he continued driving into Palm Beach County.
The chase ended when Edwards was taken into custody.
Edwards is now charged with theft and fleeing police.
