Five Houses, Five Different Nightmares

The haunted-house lineup begins with the event’s first major licensed attraction, I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch. Guests enter the seaside town of Southport, where the secret is out and the Fisherman is waiting to settle the score.

The familiar movie storyline provides an immediate connection for horror fans, but the experience is not simply a walk through scenes from the film. Tight passageways, sudden appearances and the constant threat of the Fisherman make guests feel as though they have become part of the story.

Everything Must Stay transforms a seemingly ordinary suburban open house into the worst real-estate showing imaginable. The property has remained unsold for six years, and prospective buyers have repeatedly fled after encountering forces they cannot explain. During this open house, those forces are fully awake.

The Dark Net transports guests into a futuristic city facing an energy crisis, where cybernetic predators have discovered a disturbing replacement power source: human blood. Neon lighting, black oil, decaying machinery and bloodthirsty creatures blur the line between vampire and machine.

In The Crawl Space, visitors descend into a forgotten network of underground tunnels abandoned after a containment failure. Something was left behind in the darkness—and it has continued to grow. The house uses confined spaces and twisting corridors to create a claustrophobic nightmare in which danger never feels more than a few inches away.

The returning Rave Yard once again turns a forgotten cemetery into an underground party for the undead. Bass pounds through glowing mausoleums as the dead rise from their graves to dance—and possibly recruit new guests to join a celebration that never ends.

The ’90s Never Died

One of this year’s strongest and most entertaining themes is a sinister return to the 1990s.

The new Nekrosis scare zone takes guests into a seaside town frozen at midnight on Jan. 1, 2000. A Y2K celebration appears to have gone horribly wrong, leaving the community abandoned and its residents trapped in the final moments of the millennium.

VHS tapes, video stores, ringing landline telephones, arcade lights, period music and reminders of dial-up internet turn the zone into a distorted time capsule. The nostalgia initially feels fun—until the creatures who never left begin moving through it.

That theme continues at The Rewind, a specialty bar located near the Howl-O-Scream entrance. Killer cocktails, throwback music and undead nostalgia create a ’90s party where guests can rewind the decade—but may not be able to press stop.

Visitors can also step inside Howl-O-Flix, a fully themed video-store gift shop offering 2026 Howl-O-Scream apparel, collectibles and merchandise in a world where the ’90s never ended.

Terror Takes Over the Streets

Howl-O-Scream’s six scare zones are more than passageways between the haunted houses. Each has its own story, atmosphere and cast of creatures.

Just One More Chapter turns the popular dark-romance genre into a living nightmare. Masked men, toxic obsession, cursed romance and dangerous temptation fill an enchanted gothic garden where the characters may appear captivating—but remain deadly.

Extermination Order drops guests into an infestation of crawling, buzzing and multiplying horrors. Extermination crews have arrived to reclaim the territory, but there is one disturbing problem: guests have also been placed on the extermination list.

Dooms District presents a collapsed civilization where survivalists, conspiracy theorists and doomsday preppers battle over competing versions of the apocalypse—and attempt to recruit anyone who crosses their path.

Returning favorites Trailer Park Tragedy and Woodrot Hollow bring their own forms of terror. One is populated by territorial residents armed with rusted tools and a twisted sense of justice; the other leads into a festering swamp where the trees appear to bleed and something made of mud, moss and rage protects the land.

Across all six zones, the scare actors are energetic, unpredictable and committed to the experience. They do not simply stand in place waiting for guests. They stalk, chase, slide, surround and strike when people believe the danger has passed.

Monster Stomp Brings the Heat

The haunted houses and scare zones may deliver the screams, but Monster Stomp delivers one of the night’s biggest surprises.

Presented inside Nautilus Theater, the fan-favorite production brings the story of Jack the Ripper to the stage through powerful vocals, live percussion, theatrical lighting and aggressive, high-energy choreography.

The result is dark, stylish, sensual and relentless—a true horror dance spectacular that builds in intensity from its opening moments through its explosive finale.

Rain poured during portions of Positively Osceola’s visit, but it could not cool down this steam-hot show. Monster Stomp is one of the absolute must-see experiences at Howl-O-Scream 2026.

The entertainment continues with Dead Air, featuring a ’90s boy band whose members never received their chance at fame while they were alive. Now back from beyond the grave, the group combines killer harmonies, sharp choreography and undead attitude at The Rewind.

Throttle brings Havoc and his army of riders to Lakeside Patio for a fiery production filled with twisted metal, hellish portals and apocalyptic energy.

Guests looking for something even more extreme can experience Hellzapoppin Presents: The Grave Danger Thrill Show at SeaFire Grill. The production combines rock ’n’ roll attitude with sword swallowing, glass walking, illusions and other death-defying circus stunts.

Frightening Food and Killer Cocktails

The food and beverages are part of the experience rather than an afterthought.

Across the park, frightening food presentations and themed drinks extend the stories beyond the haunted houses. The five specialty bars each have their own distinct personality.

At Byte Bar, bloodthirsty cyborgs blur the line between vampires and machines. Resurrection Club combines pounding music, electric energy and killer cocktails with the undead atmosphere of the Rave Yard.

The Black Sheep serves as a doomsday watering hole where survivalists crack open canned goods and toast to surviving another night, while Larva Lounge offers creepy-crawly cocktails with the warning that guests may want to keep a toothpick ready for any legs left behind.

Combined with The Rewind’s ’90s atmosphere, the specialty bars give visitors places to slow down without ever completely escaping the event’s stories or characters.

Roller Coasters After Dark

The screams do not end with the haunted attractions.

Mako, Pipeline, Ice Breaker and Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice operate during the event, allowing guests to trade dark haunted corridors for high-speed thrills beneath the night sky.

The nighttime atmosphere transforms the rides. Drops feel darker, speeds seem faster and the illuminated park becomes part of the experience.

A Halloween Event With Its Own Identity

Howl-O-Scream does not need to imitate Halloween Horror Nights to compete with it.

SeaWorld Orlando has developed an event with its own identity—more open, unpredictable and interactive, with strong original concepts, roaming terror, creative specialty bars, impressive live entertainment and scare actors who keep the night moving.

Halloween Horror Nights remains a Central Florida tradition, but Howl-O-Scream has firmly established itself as an outstanding alternative for horror fans—and an event worthy of being experienced in its own right.

It is intense without losing its sense of fun, nostalgic without feeling dated and unpredictable enough to keep guests looking over their shoulders until they reach the exit.

SeaWorld Orlando’s Howl-O-Scream: Rot Runs Deep is Positively Osceola approved and absolutely not to be missed.

The separately ticketed event continues on select nights through Oct. 31 at SeaWorld Orlando, 7007 Sea World Drive. It is designed for mature audiences and includes intense scares, blood, gore and violence. Costumes are not permitted.

I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch transporta a los visitantes al pueblo costero de Southport, donde el Pescador espera en la oscuridad.
