TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — On day three of the Federal Aviation Administration’s order to reduce flight traffic, delays and cancellations continued ticking up at Tampa International Airport.

TPA was named one of the 40 busiest airports in the country, meaning it is facing 4% reduction in flights, which will increase to 6% on Tuesday. By next Friday, Nov. 14, a 10% reduction in flight traffic will be in place.

As of 6:04 p.m. on Sunday: 50 cancellations, 187 delays; roughly 43% of total flights

On Saturday, delays and cancellations slowly increased throughout the day and by 9 p.m., 36 flights had been cancelled and 175 had been delayed, making up nearly half of all flights.

One silver lining is that TPA has not yet been forced into a ground stop due to flight traffic, which has happened at major airports in Boston, Las Vegas, Newark, Charlotte, Chicago and other cities.

Travelers should check with their airline for information about specific flights. Contact information for all the airlines that fly out of TPA can be found here.
