JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a home in Jacksonville’s St. Nicholas neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Mark Mulliens, 35, is accused of shooting 28-year-old Jarrius Brown after the two got into a fight on May 17 at a home on Mayfair Road near Beach Boulevard, police said.
District 1 Patrol officers found Brown suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
Homicide detectives used surveillance video and witness statements to build a case against Mulliens, according to police.
Mulliens was arrested 10 days after the shooting on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He has remained in the Duval County jail on that charge while detectives continued investigating Brown’s death.
Police said Mulliens is a convicted felon who previously served four prison sentences for drug trafficking and armed robbery convictions. Detectives later arrested him on a murder charge in Brown’s death.
