Deputies said they responded shortly after 6 p.m. to the area of Northwest 145th Street and 11th Court after receiving a report of a woman being attacked by at least dogs.

When deputies arrived, they found the woman being treated by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue medics. Deputies said they also saw multiple dogs in the front yard of a home.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 on Friday shows the woman getting out of a vehicle and walking away before a group of dogs runs toward her. The dogs appear to attack the woman and drag her to the ground.

As deputies attempted to close and secure a gate to contain the dogs, the animals tried to attack one of the deputies, according to MDSO officials. Authorities said a deputy then fired their service weapon, causing the dogs to retreat and flee in an unknown direction.

They said the woman, who has not been identified at this time, was transported by MDFR medics to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

It was unclear whether any of the dogs were struck by gunfire.

A woman who did not want to be identified or show her face told Local 10 the dogs belong to her ex-husband and have been an ongoing concern. She said she had previously tried to create barriers to keep the dogs from escaping and had contacted animal control about the animals.

A neighbor who helped during Thursday’s attack described the incident as “terrifying.”

Authorities have not released additional information about the dogs involved. It was unclear whether any charges had been filed or would be filed.

No deputies or other civilians were injured in the incident, according to investigators.

Deputies have not released any additional information on the dogs involved in the attack at this time.
