The Buffalo Bills had their most-disappointing defeat at the hands of their AFC East rival, the Miami Dolphins, in Week 10.
The Bills (6-3) ended up being routed off the field at Hard Rock Stadium by the Dolphins (3-7).
After a slow start, Buffalo was stuck in the mud and fell behind. They never recovered from that as Miami eventually pulled away.
With that, here are Bills Wire’s five takeaways from the Bills’ loss to the Dolphins:
Sluggish start
The Bills got behind the eight ball early. The Dolphins never let up.

That was that.
Buffalo’s offense went three-and-out in their first five series. The team’s defense trailed the Dolphins 16-0 at halftime.
It didn’t feel like the Bills were in this game at any point.. because they weren’t.
James Cook stalls
Running back James Cook only had 53 rushing yards. It was the third time this year that Buffalo’s No. 1 back failed to surpass 100 rushing yards.
The Bills are 0-3 in those games.
That’s not a coincidence.
Allen’s numbers deceiving
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was 28-for-40 passing with 306 yards and two touchdowns. But those feel a bit deceiving. Buffalo’s pass catches still are not getting open. Allen had 3.53 seconds, on average, to throw the ball. Allen still looked like he was unsure.
Plus, his turnovers were back. Allen had an interception and lost fumble. Cook lost another fumble as well.
Dolphins’ rushing attack rolls Bills defense
Dolphins running back De’Von Achane steamrolled the Bills. Buffalo’s defense had no answers. 174 rushing yards on 22 carries, an average of 7.9 yards per carry.
Achane had another 51 yards receiving as well.
Not the class of the AFC East
Elsewhere in the NFL, the New England Patriots won again in an upset on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In 2025, they are the class of the AFC East division with an 8-2 record. The Bills are not with this loss.
