A 53-year-old Tallahassee man was indicted on drug and gun charges by a federal grand jury, prosecutors said.

Marcello “Milo” Hinojosa was indicted on one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking offense, said Jack Heekin, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Florida, in a news release.

“If convicted, Hinojosa faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and up to life imprisonment on the possession with intent to distribute count; up to 15 years’ imprisonment on the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon count; and no less than 5 years consecutive to any other sentence on the possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking offense count,” according to the release.

The indictment says Hinojosa has a history of various felony convictions dating to 1991. Most recently, he was found in possession of a Hi-Point 9 millimeter caliber handgun and Blazer 9 millimeter caliber ammo, it added, as well as over 50 grams of methamphetamine.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Tallahassee Police Department. For now, a trial is scheduled for Oct. 27 before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Allen C. Winsor, court dockets show. Hinojosa is represented by the Federal Public Defender’s Office.
