TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The president of a Leon County non-profit accused of child abuse and neglect was denied bond on Friday.

Juming Delmas, 38, is listed as the president of Infinite Spectrum, an organization that provides support to those with autism.

The teenage victim’s mother said she feels guilty for how long her son had to suffer. But, she’s glad to see Delmas being held accountable after an extended period of alleged abuse.

The mother, who wished to stay anonymous to protect her child, said she noticed bruises and other marks on her son, which she suspected he was trying to hide.

“He’d say he’s a boy. He’s been out playing and rough housing and things of that sort,” the child’s mother said.

According to court documents, the teen told investigators he was hit with brass knuckles and a PVC pipe earlier this week after waking up late to do his chores.

Those documents revealed several other alleged instances of abuse, claiming Delmas even made the teen sleep outside.

“His clothes were bad. I think just, kids being kids, they made fun of him. But they didn’t know what he was going through,” the mother said.

The woman said her family made several calls to law enforcement for wellness checks over the years, but non of those visits resulted in an arrest.

A neighbor spoke with WCTV on Friday and said this type of behavior wasn’t “a one-off.”

“He was standing in the yard, holding the yard wake, and he slapped him upside the head. He only hit him one time, but before he did, I could hear him down there fussing at him,” the neighbor said.

The man said the incidents struck a nerve with him and several other neighbors, one of whom called the police recently after hearing the teen’s screams.

He said Delmas’ role in the community only adds to the severity of the accusations.

“I’m trying to figure out how he can be doing that,” the neighbor said.

The teen’s mother said she hopes Delmas is held accountable for her son’s suffering.

“He shouldn’t see daylight. That’s my feeling,” the mother said.

Delmas is set to have his next court appearance on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
