Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup against the Houston Texans due to an ankle injury, coach Liam Coen said Friday.
Thomas, who leads Jacksonville in both receptions (30) and receiving yards (420), joins Travis Hunter (knee, IR) on the sideline — leaving the Jaguars without their top two pass catchers.
Jacksonville traded for Jakobi Meyers on Tuesday. The wide receiver had 33 catches for 352 yards for the Las Vegas Raiders this season.
Fifth-year wide receiver Dyami Brown (concussion) has yet to clear protocol and remains questionable. If Brown is unavailable, Meyers, Parker Washington (25 catches, 297 yards) and Tim Patrick (four catches, 63 yards) are expected to step up for the Jaguars against Houston.
The Jaguars, 5-3 on the season, are in second place in the AFC South and currently hold the final playoff spot in the conference.
