While things are heating up between Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, Orlando Bloom is reportedly left scratching his head.

Even though he and Perry are amicably co-parenting their daughter, Daisy, 5, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor is apparently questioning his ex’s timeline with the former Canadian prime minister. Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack spoke to sources who claimed that the romance was “ignited months earlier,” meaning it might have overlapped Perry’s relationship with Bloom.

The insiders asserted that Trudeau and Perry met much earlier — think more late spring instead of midsummer — and it quickly sparked from there. “Katy was captivated by Justin’s intelligence and charm. Their messages got flirty fast,” a source said.

That might be a harsh realization for Bloom, but a pal added, “Orlando’s no fool. He could tell she was already gone emotionally.” Bloom and Perry waited until early July to confirm the end of their engagement, even though it had been rumored for at least a month.

“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the statement read, per People. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”

Weeks later, Perry and Trudeau were spotted together in Montreal during her Lifetimes Tour Canadian stops. Fans assumed it was a first date after TMZ caught them on camera, but they might have already been deeper into their relationship.

Everyone thought it was a brief fling that went nowhere until Us Weekly sources spilled the tea in August. “They’ve decided to be much more private about it,” a source revealed. “They are still speaking and are very interested in each other.”

Judging from their steamy PDA snapshots onboard Perry’s yacht, things are going very well. Trudeau and the “Firework” singer might be the most surprising couple of 2025.
