WHAT: In celebration of National Literacy Month, The Children’s Trust Book Club will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially launch the installation of Pages in the Park, a new initiative transforming Miami-Dade County playgrounds into interactive early literacy experiences.
Developed through a partnership between The Children’s Trust Book Club, Uplift Literacy, and Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces, Pages in the Park invites children and their families to explore, play, and build early literacy skills together as they enjoy time outdoors. The initiative features six colorful, interactive signs installed throughout each participating park featuring engaging activities that encourage children to read, talk, write, sing, and play together while developing foundational skills that support their journey toward reading.
The initiative builds on The Children’s Trust Book Club, which provides children from birth through age 5 with one free book and educational materials every month, delivered directly to their homes in English, Spanish or Haitian Creole. Together, these efforts create more opportunities for young children and families to develop a love of books, language and learning at home, in the community, and now at the park.
Pages in the Park is currently installed at the following four Miami-Dade County parks including Ruben Dario Park, Westwind Lakes Park, Oak Grove Park, JL (Joe) and Enid W. Demps Park.

WHY: The early years matter. Before children enter kindergarten, they are developing the language, communication, and foundational literacy skills that set the stage for future learning. Pages in the Park brings early literacy into children’s everyday experiences, turning outdoor play into opportunities to talk, explore, listen, imagine, and learn.
VISUALS: The event features visuals of the Pages in the Park installation, kids, colorful signs, and interactive activities outdoors, as well as interviews with representatives about the initiatives and its impact on early literacy in Miami-Dade County.
