FLEMINGTON, Fla. (CBS12) — A family friend allegedly turned on a couple after a night of drinking, stabbing a man to death and attacking the woman who attempted to stop her.
According to deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Amy Hogg of Crescent City was booked for second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on Saturday in connection with the deadly stabbing.
Deputies say they responded to a home on W Highway 318 near Flemington around 3:15 a.m. after receiving a 911 call.
Upon arrival, deputies say they found the man suffering multiple stab wounds, and despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A woman at the home was also injured after she was stabbed while trying to take the weapon away from Hogg.

According to investigators, Hogg was a family friend who had come to stay with the couple the night before. The group began drinking, and Hogg allegedly became intoxicated before getting into an argument with the woman.
The argument escalated when Hogg allegedly pushed her. The man stepped in and separated the two women.
A short time later, the woman heard Hogg and the man arguing. She called 911, then found the man bleeding on the floor and struggling to breathe.
While the woman was still on the phone with 911, Hogg allegedly continued stabbing the man. The woman told investigators Hogg mocked her as she begged her to stop.
The woman was eventually able to disarm Hogg.
Hogg was arrested and taken to a local hospital for treatment. She remains in custody at the hospital without bond.
Once she is medically cleared, Hogg will be taken to the Marion County Jail.
