Orlando police remove intruder from apartment complex — a bear

  • September 21, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Florida black bear checking out an Orlando apartment complex got escorted off the premises by police earlier this month.

The Orlando Police Department posted video on Facebook of the black bear sitting in a flower bed at an apartment complex in the Metrowest area.

Police guided the bear away from the complex to a lake, where it swam off to a wooded area.

If you see a bear in your neighborhood, the best thing to do is leave it alone and put away any sort of food or garbage that may attract the animal and entice it to stay, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

If there is no food for a bear, they will move on.

You can report human-bear encounters to the FWC regional office for our area at 352-732-1225.

If more information about living with bears in Florida, head to the FWC website.
