SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Week 10 in the NFL featured overtime periods, crazy comebacks, and some upsets.
Falcons 25, Colts 31
Olympic Stadium played host to the first-ever regular season NFL game in Berlin, Germany.
After the Colts got on the board first, Tyler Allgeier found his way through the pile from one yard out, marking a career-high fifth rushing touchdown of the year for him. It was 7-6 Falcons in the first quarter.
Jumping to the fourth quarter, where the Falcons trailed by five, Allgeier again got the handoff and made his way into in the end zone. Atlanta converted on the 2-point attempt, so it was 25-22 Falcons with 1:44 left in the game.
1:44 ended up being enough time for the Colts to get into field goal range, and the 44-yard attempt was good, tying it at 25 and giving the fans some overseas overtime.
The Falcons got the ball first and were forced to punt, while Indianapolis made the most of their opportunity. Jonathan Taylor scored to cap off a huge day — 244 yards and 3 touchdowns.
That is now four-straight losses for the Falcons, and the question is, does the messaging need to change?
“You change it every single week based on what the messaging is, what you need to do, what it takes to win each game,” said head coach Raheem Morris. “We talk about every game every single week, and it takes something different to win every single game. It will require something different this week, and we’ll talk about all those things. We’ll look at it, we’ll be detailed, we’ll be sharp, we’ll practice. The guys will do the right thing like they always do — they’ll respond. We just have to find a way to win this game next week.”
Jaguars 29, Texans 36
Jacksonville was in Houston taking on the Texans, and the Jaguars came out of the gates hot against the top defense in the league. Parker Washington got a toe-tap touchdown on their second drive, making it 10-0 Jacksonville.
Early in the second quarter, Washington was back to it, delivering a 73-yard punt return touchdown, and it was 17-0 Jaguars.
But the second half was a completely different story. Houston outscored the Jags 26-0 in the fourth quarter. This game will go down as one that got away for Jacksonville, as they fall to 5-4 on the season.
Saints 17, Panthers 7
The Panthers hosted the 1-8 Saints Sunday afternoon.
On the first drive of the game, Rico Dowdle broke through with a 5-yard rushing touchdown to get the scoring started.
The Saints wouldn’t respond until the second quarter when Tyler Shough connected with Chris Olave for a 62-yard touchdown, giving New Orleans a 10-7 lead.
The Saints would score once more, while Carolina was kept off the board the rest of the way. The Panthers fall to 5-5 on the year.
