Florida Forest Service, Avalon Fire-Rescue respond to 50-acre wildfire in Milton

MILTON, Fla. — A 50-acre wildfire was reported in Milton Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters from the Florida Forest Service and Avalon Fire-Rescue District are responding to the wildfire east of Avalon Boulevard near Raughton Road.

“There is no threat to homes or roadways and fire behavior is low with minimal spread,” Florida Forest Service said. “Two tractor-plow units are on scene and building containment line to stop the fire’s spread but passing motorists will see lingering flames and smoke throughout the night.”

Drivers in the area should be cautious if they come across smoke on the roadway. Officials say to treat it like fog, so slow down and use low-beam lights.
