CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – An 83-year-old man was arrested Monday after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team served a search warrant at a Middleburg residence, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The warrant was served at a home on Half Moon Circle as part of a child exploitation investigation led by the Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children unit, with assistance from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
David Cangemi exited the residence and was detained without incident. He was interviewed by ICAC detectives while investigators processed the home for evidence.
Authorities said the investigation resulted in probable cause to arrest Cangemi on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim younger than 15.
Cangemi was booked into the Clay County Jail pending medical clearance. The investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to contact Detective Eva Solis at esolis@claysheriff.com or 904-264-6512. Tips also can be submitted through the SaferWatch app or by calling First Coast Crime Stoppers.
