A man was arrested on Tuesday after the Lonoke County sheriff’s office determined he was falsely portraying himself as a reserve sheriff’s deputy, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Keith Reed, 65, of Jacksonville was arrested around 6:44 p.m. after deputies responded to an animal welfare call on Arkansas 89, west of Catfish Road, the release says.

Reed had been portraying himself as a reserve deputy to the property owners, the release says.

He was arrested on charges of criminal impersonation, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and false imprisonment, the release says.

“Reed is not and has never been a law enforcement officer,” the release says.

Reed was being held in Lonoke County jail on a $2,500 bond. He is set to appear in Lonoke County Circuit Court on Friday, according to an online inmate roster.
