WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – The historic Garden Theatre on Plant in Winter Garden is starting a new theatrical series under new management after its unexpected closure in late 2024. The season started in August with the first concert, “The Rocket Man Show.”
This is the premier season for DNA Productions, in partnership with the City of Winter Garden.
The theatre’s sudden closure stunned many after the former operator dissolved due to financial issues.
Winter Garden then approved a plan to revive the venue, which included plays, movies, concerts, camps and one-off performances.
In April, commissioners selected DNA Productions as the theatre’s new presenting partner. The company is part of DNA Event Creative, which has been putting together events, corporate meetings, and conferences in Central Florida and around the world for 20 years.
Here’s the lineup for the 2026/2027 theatrical series:
Footloose: The Musical
Sept. 24-27, Oct. 1-4 and 8-11
“When a city teen lands in a small town where dancing is banned, it ignites a high-energy rebellion that challenges authority, heals broken relationships, and unites a divided community. With dynamic new songs augmenting the powerhouse hits from its bestselling, Oscar-nominated score, Footloose celebrates the exhilaration of youth, the wisdom of listening to one another, and the power of forgiveness.”
It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
Dec. 10-13 and 17-20
“This beloved classic film takes the stage as a live 1940s radio broadcast as part of a season that celebrates the cinema house origins of Garden Theatre on Plant in historic downtown Winter Garden. The audience is in on the hilarious hijinks—and mishaps—as a small ensemble of performers attempts to portray all the characters live, complete with vintage sound effects and favorite songs.
The heartwarming story of George Bailey and his angel, Clarence, delivers nostalgic charm sure to put theatergoers of all ages in the holiday spirit. The Chicago Sun-Times called it “one of the best holiday shows around.”
The 39 Steps
Jan. 28-31, Feb. 4-7, and 11-14, 2027
“Mixing Hitchcock-style suspense with Monty Python-inspired comedy, The 39 Steps is a fast-paced theatrical thrill ride that follows an ordinary man swept into an international spy conspiracy. Featuring just four actors playing over 100 characters, this inventive award-winning adaptation delivers nonstop laughs, clever staging, and astonishing theatrical creativity from start to finish.”
