TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – People in Tallahassee are mourning the loss of a beloved staple in the city’s restaurant community.
George Koikos died this week. He was the longtime owner of Georgio’s, with a deep culinary history in the city, with memories all throughout the restaurant.
George’s niece, Sara Koikos Hill, said her uncle embraced everyone who walked through the doors of his restaurant.
“He was the kindest, sweetest man,” Sara said. “In fact, if you look over my social media accounts accounts everybody said the same thing. That he’s the nicest, sweetest man. He made everybody that came in this restaurant feel welcome.
George immigrated from Greece and started working with his brother in Tallahassee. He later opened several restaurants, including the Spartan, Brothers Three and of course, Georgio’s.
