Two cranes fell on top of a Fort Lauderdale house Thursday, causing significant structural damage to the home, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said.
The first crane, which was mounted on a truck, tipped over around 9:10 a.m. on the 800 block of Southeast Eighth Street, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Guzman said.

Two truck-mounted cranes collapsed in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026. The crane on the right buckled while lifting the other crane, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said.
Then another truck-mounted crane was brought in to lift the first one, and its beam buckled from the weight, and it too fell onto the house, Guzman said.

The beam of a truck-mounted crane is bent while lifting another crane that fell onto a Fort Lauderdale house on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026.
The home sustained heavy damage, but no one was injured, he said. The city’s fire inspector and building department are investigating.
