A carjacking suspect struck several police vehicles, overcame multiple PIT maneuvers and hit speeds of 85 mph while fleeing from authorities during a wild chase in Miami-Dade that ended with him behind bars, according to new police reports.
Jordan Eugene Brown, 35, is facing at least nine separate charges following Thursday’s pursuit, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
According to the reports and Hialeah Police, Brown had been brought to Palmetto General Hospital Thursday morning by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office under a Baker Act order but escaped while shirtless and wearing green hospital scrubs.
As he was being chased by hospital staff, Brown approached a woman in her black Nissan Sentra who was waiting in line to exit the parking lot and opened her driver’s side door, demanding she get out, the reports said.
The woman started crying in fear and Brown grabbed her by the arms and threw her out of the car and to the ground before he got in the Sentra and fled, the reports said.

A few hours later, a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputy spotted the Sentra in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and Northwest 62nd Street and attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle, driven by Brown, fled.
A pursuit involving Miami-Dade deputies, Miami-Dade Schools Police and Miami Police ensued as Brown ” repeatedly drove through the area in a circular pattern while operating the vehicle in an erratic and reckless manner,” the reports said.
Chopper 6 followed the Sentra as Brown ran multiple stop signs, cut off civilian vehicles and law enforcement vehicles and crashed into two separate Miami-Dade Schools Police cars while fleeing.
A police pursuit ended with a suspect in custody, hours after authorities said a man who was brought to Palmetto Hospital in Hialeah under a mental health evaluation order escaped after carjacking a woman in the parking lot Thursday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol joined in the pursuit and a trooper who was working off-duty spotted the fleeing Sentra which made an “aggressive evasive maneuver” that caused the trooper to collide with a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office vehicle, the reports said.
The trooper tried one PIT maneuver on the Sentra that was unsuccessful as Brown started going the wrong way to pass slower moving traffic, before the trooper tried a second PIT maneuver that was also unsuccessful, the reports said.
A third PIT maneuver was attempted but Brown was able to keep control of the Sentra and began driving in reverse on Northwest 12th Avenue then drove over the median and collided with the trooper’s vehicle, the reports said.
A police pursuit ended with a suspect in custody, hours after authorities said a man who was brought to Palmetto Hospital in Hialeah under a mental health evaluation order escaped after carjacking a woman in the parking lot Thursday morning.
As Brown continued to flee on Northwest 17th Avenue, the Sentra accelerated to around 85 mph in a 35 mph zone, and another trooper was able to conduct a fourth PIT maneuver that spun the Nissan around and stopped it, the reports said.
Brown was pulled from the car and taken into custody but refused medical treatment, authorities said.
The woman who was carjacked suffered minor injuries and bruises but no other injuries were reported.

Brown was booked into jail on charges including burglary with assault or battery, robbery-carjacking, battery, fleeing and eluding police, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, aggravated assault on an officer and resisting an officer without violence.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said Brown had been Baker Acted after a deputy had encountered him acting erratically and determined that he posed a threat to himself and/or the public. The deputy turned over Brown to the hospital staff with the required paperwork and left, officials said.
During his appearance before a judge on Friday, Brown was appointed a public defender as a prosecutor asked for no bond and mentioned the news coverage of the chase.

“No, I missed that one. You got video to show? We get videos here,” Judge Mindy Glazer replied.
“It was, I think, aired live,” the prosecutor said.
Glazer ordered Brown held without bond for the time being.
