Davie, FL – Two Davie schools returned to normal operations after a reported bomb threat prompted an evacuation and a precautionary lockdown Wednesday.
Western High School was evacuated after officials received a report of a possible bomb threat, according to Broward County Public Schools. District officials did not disclose how the threat was received or provide details about its contents.
Davie Police officers responded to the Western High campus and conducted an investigation before issuing an all-clear. School officials said the campus resumed normal activities after police completed their search and determined operations could continue.
Nearby St. Bonaventure Catholic School was placed on lockdown because of the police activity at Western High. The lockdown was implemented as a precaution while officers investigated the reported threat at the public high school.
St. Bonaventure also resumed normal operations after authorities issued the all-clear. Officials did not specify how long Western High remained evacuated or how long the lockdown lasted at the Catholic school.
No suspect was publicly identified, and authorities had not announced an arrest in connection with the reported threat. Officials also did not say whether investigators located a suspicious device or other evidence on the Western High campus.
Because no suspect or arrest report had been released, authorities had not attributed the reported threat to a specific individual as of the latest update.
Broward County Public Schools confirmed that both campuses returned to their regular schedules following the investigation. Additional information about the origin of the threat and whether the case remained under investigation was not immediately available. Authorities were contacted for further details about the incident.
