TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS12) — Two undocumented immigrants allegedly staged multiple car wrecks in Florida and filed hundreds of thousands of dollars in bogus insurance claims.
On Thursday, the Florida Chief Financial Officer, Blaise Ingoglia, announced the arrest of two undocumented immigrants for their involvement in a staged car crash insurance fraud case.
“Illegal immigration puts law-abiding Floridians at far too high a risk. The two illegal aliens arrested in this case endangered the lives of other innocent drivers on the road, which is sadly something that we have seen far too often recently,” said Ingoglia. “I am proud of our office’s work on this case to bring these criminals to justice and for the support of the Trump Administration in ending the illegal immigration crisis that has plagued our nation.”

According to Ingoglia, video footage showed the suspects, Samil Morales Pena and Glenys Pena Perez, fabricated three separate collisions before pulling over and getting out of the car.
Over the three crashes, Moralez Pena and Pena Perez filed claims to their insurance company totaling $371,176 in medical expenses, car repairs, and compensation for injuries.
Both suspects were booked into a Florida corrections facility, according to the news release.
