A Lauderhill mother wants justice after she says someone shot up her car while she and her husband were inside last month.

Police don’t have much information to share now because they say a detective still needs to talk with the mother, but she told NBC6 she believes she knows what led up to the shooting.

April and David don’t want to use their last name because they don’t know if they’re safe. They said last month, a group of teens and a parent showed up to their Lauderhill home after their daughter got into a fight with girls earlier. April and David were in their car, and their daughter was inside the house.

April said they kept asking if she lived at the home and who her daughter was. That’s when someone sprayed mace in her face, threw a brick at the window, and then started shooting, she said.

“I’m still traumatized,” April said. “I thought we were going to die.”

David sped off, and they called police.

“I wanted to do something, but I couldn’t do anything, so I had to get away,” David said.

More than a month later, Lauderhill Police say they are investigating the shooting and waiting for April to talk with the detective so they can get more information.

“We want justice, we want every single last one of them to get caught,” April said.

April and David are thankful they’re alive.

“I thank God every day because if it wasn’t for Him, we would have been dead. I give Him all the honor,” April said.

Now the couple wants everyone involved held accountable.

“It’s sad because these kids are underage; they’re kids and for you to be an adult and lead them over there, you made so many wrong decisions,” April said.

There is a GoFundMe for the family.
