Worker rescued after falling into hopper at Winter Garden concrete facility

Brandon HoganWINTER GARDEN, Fla. —

A worker at a Winter Garden concrete facility was injured Friday after slipping from a ladder and falling into a hopper, according to firefighters.

Winter Garden Fire Rescue responded that afternoon to Lotts Concrete at 429 Hennis Road, where the worker had fallen more than 10 feet and suffered a leg injury, the agency said in a statement.

The worker remained trapped for several minutes before he was able to call for help, the statement reads.

“The incident required a combined high-angle, technical, and confined-space rescue,” firefighters said. “Crews successfully removed the worker from the hopper in approximately 40–45 minutes. He was transported to the hospital as a trauma alert.”

Chopper 2 flew over the scene, observing multiple first responders at the hopper with more on the ground.
