TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – A statement released by the MacDill Air Force public affairs office said a civilian has been detained after allegedly breaching the base perimeter and getting into a confrontation with security.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, officials said.
After being detained, the suspect, as well as an officer, were taken and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
MacDill AFB announced that its Dale Mabry gate was closed to inbound and outbound traffic on Saturday afternoon.
The Bayshore gate remains open.
No further details were immediately provided.
